The research and scientific consultation centers at Libyan universities held their first regular meeting for the current year (2024) on the evening of Wednesday, December 4, 2024, via Google Meet, with the attendance of:

2. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Tripoli
3. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Sirte
4. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Zawiya
5. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Murqab
6. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – Libyan International University of Medical Sciences
7. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Sebha
8. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Zaytuna
9. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Nalut
10. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Sabratha
11. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Zintan
12. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Ghiryan
13. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Shati
14. Director of the Research and Scientific Consultation Center – University of Fezzan
The meeting included the following agenda:
1. Presentation of the proposed cooperation agreement between research centers at Libyan universities.
2. Discussion of the necessary arrangements for signing the agreement by the university presidents and directors of research centers.
3. Discussion of activities and initiatives that would enhance the role of research centers at Libyan universities.
4. Any other business.

The attendees opened the meeting with greetings and discussed the agenda as follows:
1. Presentation of the cooperation agreement.
The attendees discussed the content of the agreement, which aims to open avenues for cooperation between research centers in the field of scientific research by utilizing the available resources in the research centers for researchers and graduate students to conduct rigorous scientific research. The agreement also included cooperation in training and the exchange of expertise, and everyone confirmed their agreement with the contents of the agreement to elevate the level of scientific research at Libyan universities.
2. Signing of the agreement.
The attendees discussed the arrangements for signing the agreement and emphasized the need for it to be under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to be done as soon as possible.
3. Enhancing the role of research centers at Libyan universities.
Research centers are considered the places where rigorous scientific research should be conducted to serve the community and the environment. From this perspective, the attendees suggested starting to implement the provisions of the agreement as a first step to provide the requirements for rigorous scientific research and to begin forming research teams. The attendees also proposed the necessity of holding joint workshops to introduce the real role of research centers and how to work collectively to address the deficiencies in the resources that hinder their work.
4. New Developments in Work
- The attendees presented the issue arising from the lack of a unified regulation governing the work of research centers.
- The attendees highlighted the differences in the names given to research centers, noting the presence of a training aspect in some centers and its absence in others.
- The attendees emphasized the importance of forming research teams and their role in obtaining international grants to carry out the research assigned to research centers.
